Thanks Joan! I like the Photomat pun! I really did hand hold the camera up to the eyepiece. The exposure time was 1/320. Focus was manual. Not sure I would recommend this as the preferred way to image the eclipse because as I mentioned in another post, there is a fair amount of hit-or-miss and luck involved. Other, more conventional and modern ways are more repeatable, but as you can see, you can get good images this way (afocal imaging). I'm not an astrophotographer, and apart from a barn-door tracker do not have any astrophoto gear, so if I want to take an image through my telescopes, afocal is the only way I do it. The last time I took an image of the sun through the telescope was a partial solar eclipse in Albuquerque around 10 or 12 years ago. Really???? I'm sure the exposure time was short. Did you use the autofocus on the camera? I'm going to have to try it. Dang, my plans for the annular keep changing. Guess there is still time, but dang, _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Send messages to the list to Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com The Utah-Astronomy mailing list is not affiliated with any astronomy club.
