Brett, You are correct sir, the seeing was phenomenal. I had my wifes 10 inch f/5.2 out at 11:30 and seen that Jupiter was holding steady so I grabbed the Pentax 5.2 mm and a 6mm ortho for back-up and was rewarded with a spectecular view of a shadow transit just under the red spot which was very prominent among the swirls and other details in the bands. The orange band was quite vivid and I detected hints of color in the other bands. Turning to Saturn proved equally rewarding. Matter of fact, I tightened up the collimation just now and I have the scope sitting out back and will try for a repeat performance. ( I would take my 16 inch out but someone has the focuser, and you know who you are) Ron Vanderhule "Steinicke, Brett" wrote:
It was pretty clear last night. The seeing was excellent! I took my nexstar5 up to Mountain Green last night. I saw great views of Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars. It was very cold up there.
