It is entertaining, actual astronomy is rather slow this time of year. I have heard very little about what the book in question says about Astronomy. I would mention anyone can simply delete any message with the subject line they wish not to participate in. The actual text is elusive on the internet, all you get are opinions about what it says and does not say. That alone is telling. I would say if biblical explanations of natural history is questionable then the human historical details are too. There is another book with a somewhat different history, the Koran I believe is what it is called.
I accept the" lost in translation explanations" but that means it is not the word of God, but rather the word of men who are fallible and have human faults. Yea, I agree Kim. Religion, Astrology, Astronomy are all in the same
bread basket historically speaking (Imho).
As long as it stays respectful and somewhat funny ;)

I didn't think that discussing how religious views impact the science of astronomy and vice versa was inappropriate for this list.

OK folks, I'm going to stop checking this email address for a few weeks until this philosophical thread drops off the boards again. I'll check in around New Years. Most of you have my phone number and real email address, if anything important comes up.
Have fun, see ya.
