Chuck (and anyone else who's into sci fi and horror fandom), what are you doing over memorial day?
Come to Wonderfest with me. One of the best of the behind the scenes cons I've ever been to...been going for about 8 years now...
WWW.wonderfest.com <http://www.wonderfest.com/>
I've met and shared drinks with Andrew Probert, John Eaves, Douglas Trumbull, Scott Carpenter, Greg Nicotero, Pat McClung, Bob Burns, and many other wonderful people at this con...
I've taken several silver medals for my modeling here, although my daughter has had more honorable mentions than me...
We'll see what the budget, new wife, and work schedule allows at the time Dan, but many thanks for the invitation! I have met and spent time with Larry Niven, and gotten drunk with Jerry Pournelle. He even autographed my "Falkenburg" boonie hat, though it is now lost to history. :-( I wore that thing for months afterwards. Decades ago, Larry Niven came to Hansen Planetarium and held a round table discussion for a select few. This was back in my USSF days (Utah Society for Science Fiction- no lie!). I did a large painting of the Ringworld in phosphorescent paint for the old "Black Light Gallery". Larry signed it for me, though, again- it has been lost. IIRC, it was "absorbed" by the planetarium and disappeared over ensuing years. I have a sneaking suspicin Michael Goodwin (Who Was That Monolith I Saw You With?) absconded with it... ;-) I also corresponded with Arthur C. Clarke before he died, when he was living in Sri Lanka. He was a longtime subscriber to S&T, and had favorable comment on my first article. I have a couple of his personal, signed bookplates and first edition of "A Fall of Moondust".
