Question on the sprinkler issue: Why must they be on at all Friday and Saturday nights? (Saturday and Sunday mornings, actually) Even in this heat, lawns need not be watered every day. Twice a week is sufficient if the cycle is long enough to deposit 1/4"-1/2" of water each time. All I can think of is that the timer is outdated, and only programmable for a 24-hour cycle. Unforgivable in light of conservation efforts. If so, time for a 1-week timer (with rain detector shut-off). An extra watering cycle per week could be added for the ball field itself, to help offset the added wear and tear from the kids, if needed, timed so as to not soak the astronomers. What am I missing here? Are the grounds watered with a secondary (non-culinary) source that is not in short supply? Even if so, the timing question is still valid. TIA! Looks like the manager did even better than he promised (he'd said they would come on a bit past midnight).
