John, I also saw a bright green fireball falling almost vertically, backlight by the setting sun. I just happenned to have "glacier glasses" on at the time. It went down behind Kennecott, still fiery as it went behind the mountains. The train only lasted about 15 seconds, but I too was driving, west on 21st so. in Sugarhouse about 20 years ago. Surprising. --- John and Lisa Zeigler <john@johnstelescopes.com> wrote:
Some time last year about 3:30 in the afternoon, while driving, I saw a bright green fireball traveling in an eastwardly direction. This left a trail behind it that dissipated in less than a minute. Unfortunately since I was on a freeway entrance ramp, once it disappeared off the top of the windshield, I was unable to pull over and get a better look. Even still, it was a very neat experience.
