I just read about this harebrained scheme on the BBC web site. In short, a group of people is organizing a project where everyone turns on their lights in a relay around the world. They claim this is a celebration of physics and they also claim that it isn't light pollution. Here's a link to their website. I have already written to tell them what I think of their idea. These folks need a good dope slap.
