I got to watch the COSMOS finale last night. I was very entertained and impressed, and sad to see the series come to a conclusion. If something like this doesn't ignite a spark of curiosity in some people, nothing will. Tyson carefully presented each point in a manner that isn't over the heads of most members of the general public. His own enthusiasm is infectious, his demeanor not that of a stuffy, practiced academic; I think he makes a better connection to the average person than Sagan did. There was plenty of astronomy and astro physics scattered throughout the series, enough to satisfy a nerd such as myself. The historical backgrounds and ties to society and everyday life were themselves entertaining and a good refresher for someone not wholly unfamiliar with it. I'll be ordering the DVDs soon so I don't risk losing it if it gets wiped from the DVR. My 2 cents, I'm sure we'll talk about it further at the next L&O get-together on the 21st.
