Back in the '70's, before such products were available, I made a rear-projection viewer box for my slide projector. SLAS used it for a couple of years at our booth at the Utah State Fair. For a screen, I just ground a piece of Lucite (plexiglass) with some 200 grit mirror grinding abrasive. Worked great! On May 30, 2012 7:17 PM, "RON VANDERHULE" <deepsky100@msn.com> wrote:
I thought I could find this material locally, but not so much. There is an item called a "sun funnel" which allows an image of the sun to be projected thru an eyepiece in a telescope, up thru a funnel attached to the eyepiece, onto some screen material allowing several people to observe at once. The material on the wide end of the funnel is Da-lite High Contrast Da tex, rear surface projection screen material. This is the material that is needed, or a suitable substitute. I am thinking many people on the list would like to build one before Tuesday. Google "sun funnel" and hit the first link for instructions on building one, then respond ASAP if you know where the Da-Lite stuff might be obtained.
