Thanks, Tyler and Joe. The camera is the QSI 583 with a 150 mm refractor at f/5.7 (using a focal reducer). I combined 5 ten minute luminances for each image binned 1x1 and 5 each four minute RGB's binned 2 x 2. I would like to do longer exposures but my time was limited and I wanted to do more than one object. Tyler, I really enjoyed your image of Van den Bergh 158. -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Tyler Allred Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2010 10:50 AM To: 'Utah Astronomy' Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] IC 342 Hi Don, Both are beautiful images. What camera are you using? Cheers, Tyler -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Don J. The C-14 had a big dewcap on it and we could see IC 342 in the C-14 but not the 20". Sky conditions may have been a factor but the Sky background was darker in the C-14 probably because of the baffling and the dewcap. IC 342 at only 10 million light years would be one of the brightest galaxies in the sky if it was not obscured by the Milky Way. I imaged it last weekend at Midway, UT along with NGC 891.
