Hi Michael, I'll second Don's suggestion about going to Bryce and add that if you coordinate your visit ahead of time with Bryce Ranger Kevin Poe and agree to help out with one of their many evening astronomy events he can usually arrange for free admission to the park and a free camp site. You ought to also consider Bryce Canyon, even if you don't attend the Astronomy Festival (July 7-10). Better horizons at the view points and while Kodachrome is plus 100 degrees during the day Bryce is in the 80's. You can usually get tent camping at Sunset Campground without a problem since most people take motor homes. They have a specific section for tents only.
