Carniculture! Or even jerky! Don't get me wrong, veggies are a part of any balanced diet. So, if the Mars mission turns into "Donner Party 2" when the hydroponics station breaks-down, will you be alive when the return ship gets back to earth? ;-) Look up "long pig" on Wikipedia. The classical sea mariners had more to contend with than scurvy.
