No dents, Patrick, just little bits of missing paint and a scratch here and there. I'm sure there are no memories associated with anything so minor. I'm hopeful that we can try the "vintage" telescope star party again in 2015, maybe next time the skies will be more cooperative. The problem for me is choosing which of my "vintage" scopes to bring! The seller is forwarding a bag of nuts and bolts he found after shipping the scope to me, that he thinks might belong to the Tasco. If so that will save me having to hunt down replacements and speed the re-assembly process along. Another thing that makes this scope special is that you just don't find many old Tascos with RA motor drives. I have two. On Sun, Dec 28, 2014 at 10:37 PM, Wiggins Patrick <paw@getbeehive.net> wrote:
Interesting story Chuck,
Just a thought but maybe before you fix the cosmetics you might want to do as you said and try to reach relative. It would be a shame if you fixed something only to learn later from a relative "Oh, yes, I remember that dent. It happened when dad accidentally knocked the scope over while showing Dr. Von Braun the Moon".
Even blemishes can have a history worth preserving.
All that aside, once you get it working I hope you'll bring it to a star party.
