Jay, this is excellent advice. Often, newbs will hesitate to push the envelope. Don't be afraid to use other filters than the ones mentioned on the website or in the article. Good post! I would add, dont' be afraid to use the filter held up to your naked eye, especially on larger nebulae such as NGC 7000.
