Smoked salmon? Let's give our guests the best there is: liver & onions! The more I look the more life seems the norm, not the exception but until we have a nice latte over a smoked salmon salad at lunch with them we just don't know for sure and we're in the realm of opinion. I can't even imagine that there are no other civilizations in the Milky Way, let alone all the billions of other galaxies. That seems the most far-fetched delusion. It's like a native of a small island refusing to believe there are any other people. The laws of nature seem to operate elsewhere as they do here, judging by many parameters we can measure, so it seems foolish to think we are alone. Whether you attribute our lives to God or random evolution, that still is the case. On Arthur’s old TV show he would use the variation of this phrase with the word Amazing. I'd like to think that is closer to his real thoughts. Personally I don't find anything horrible or terrifying about it, some how I doubt Arthur did either. The universe doesn't seem to stay in any one state for too long. If we are alone in this vast universe I'm sure other intelligent species would come along shortly after intelligent life on Earth blink’s out. Yes, I think there’s other life out there. That’s what I choose to believe, that’s my reality. Another thing I've often said was a quote from Arthur Clarke: either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Either possibility is horrifying.
