Hi Howard, Glad to see there's some interest in this. Because this would not be SLAS specific (or sanctioned :-) I will keep the tour limited to sites located on public lands such as national forests, BLM, State Parks, National Parks, etc. I'm sure I'll miss someone's favorite site initially but I do want to keep adding and updating sites for the tour as suggestions trickle in. I'll let everyone know when I've got a list formulated and go from there. Dave On Mar 8, 2008, at 11:00 AM, Howard Jackman wrote:
Hey Dave, You beat me to the punch line, I was going to post a question to everyone and see if we could get just such a tour made up! So I think it'd be a great idea. Go ahead and send the .kmz my way I'll check it out for you!
Thanks. Howard (sumoetx@yahoo.com)
BTW the "Street View" of my home shows my garbage cans out with one tipped over, must've been a monday morning picture! And recent too, my neighbors 'For Sale' sign was up and they only moved last fall. --- Dave Bennett <dlbennett@mac.com> wrote:
Hey fellow stargazers,
Would someone who's running Google Earth on a PC do me a favor and email me directly so I could send you a Google Earth placemark for the Wolf Creek observing site for a test run. Just checking to make sure the Google Earth .kmz file works cross platform.
I'd include it here but wasn't sure if an email with attachments would bounce.
Thanks!
Dave Bennett
P.S. I'm thinking about putting together a Google Earth placemark 'tour' package for some of the popular observing sites here Utah. Please let me know if any of you would be interested in such a thing and also if you have suggestions for the list. The tour could begin with a 'street level' view of Patrick's observatory ;-) db
