(other) Joe-

Seems like this time of year I have this issue with the weather; as a powder skier, I live for the storms, but as an astronomer, I hate 'em.  Talk about  ying and yang...

At any rate, if it weather is foul, I guess I'll ski; if it holds, Brown's Canyon is a little stretch of asphalt that goes between the Kamas road (Utah 248, I think) and the thriving Peoa metro area.  I take I-80 east and get off at Route 40 towards Heber.  The second exit on 40 is the new Kamas road.  Go left at the end of the off ramp and continue up the grade where there is an intersection with several mercury vapor lights; no stop lights though.  This is Browns Canyon.  Go left there (the only turn) and you'll wind along a few miles.  There are a couple of rock quarries along the way; after you pass them, there will be a 'Trucks Entering Highway' sign facing you, and just past that sign is the Harper Brothers sign on your left.  Turn left onto the quarry road, and go back about a mile or so.  There you will see the Scale house where they weigh the trucks.  I park there.

It takes about 30 minutes from my house at Wasatch Blvd & 4500 south.  It's a site that I like to use for general observing too.  It's close and easy to get to, with plenty of level ground to set up on.  There's even a horse that will visit from time to time; he came by and said hello to me last Thursday when I was observing with my telescope.

Joe, where is that? Also, there's a chance we'll be in for a storm. I know
one is supposed to be moving in Tuesday p.m., but I don't know what the
rest of the week looks like. Thanks, Joe
