But those warning sirens/stations... it seems to me that if the Pacific Coast has all of 6 hours warning (not sure how much time they would have though), there would be mass hysteria, and the coastal cities are so huge, that evacuation wouldn't reasonably happen. Cyn Rob Ratkowski wrote:

This will give you an idea as to why we have warning sirens. I live at 1600 ft. in Pukalani and there's a siren about 1/2 mi. away, we take the possibility of a tsunami event seriously as Hilo has been a witness several times. The Great Crack if and when it parts will be extremely destructive through out the Pacific Basin w/ most of the Hawaiian Islands being destroyed.
