It's now corrected, at 5 1/2 hrs. luminosity and other little changes. I'll make a change to 5 hrs. 40 min. -- And this is something important to me: Cory, in her quiet asking way, pointed out two mistakes in the blog as I originally filed it. I fixed them. Please, if anyone sees a mistake, please let me know so I can correct it. That's no problem at all for me, and I'm not so proud I can't accept criticism. In this case, I'd accidentally said M63 was 25 light-years away instead of 25 million, and I misspelled a word. So many thanks Patrick and Cory, and if anyone else wants to chime in in the future, please do! -- Joe ________________________________ From: Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> To: utah astronomy utah astronomy listserve <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tue, April 27, 2010 9:44:34 PM Subject: [Utah-astronomy] M-63 image correction Joe pointed out to me that the times I listed in the description of the most recent M-63 image were off. I checked the page and found he was right. So I opened the original images and checked the time stamp in each header and found the first image started on 24 April at 0426 UT and the last one ended at 1006. Everyone please check my math but it now looks like what I had thought was 5 hours of luminance data was actually more like 5 hours 40 minutes (less a few minutes for download times). So around 5.5 hours. Perhaps Tyler could chime in with how much time he spend collecting the color photons for his contribution to the image and then we'll know the total time. Thanks Joe for keeping me honest. And thanks too for the kind words in your blog. As I mentioned in the comment I just posted to your blog, "...I love how you take my convoluted verbiage and turn it into something everyone can understand. Well done." patrick _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php Visit the Wiki: http://www.utahastronomy.com _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php Visit the Wiki: http://www.utahastronomy.com
