I'm always up for Lakeside. I need to give my 6" a go. I haven't really had time to take it out. Plus, I want to work on my Messier binos. ++++++++++++++++++ Troy Davidson, KF7MTE www.istroyworking.com On Sat, Jun 25, 2011 at 2:01 PM, Jay Eads <jayleads@gmail.com> wrote:
Yes, the forecast models are beginning to make me change my mind.
.DISCUSSION...AN UPPER LEVEL <http://forecast.weather.gov/glossary.php?word=UPPER%20LEVEL> TROUGH <http://forecast.weather.gov/glossary.php?word=TROUGH> OF LOW PRESSURE WILL CROSS THE NORTHERN ROCKIES TODAY AND SUNDAY. A SERIES OF WEAK UPPER LEVEL <http://forecast.weather.gov/glossary.php?word=UPPER%20LEVEL> DISTURBANCES EMBEDDED IN IT WILL SCRAPE THE NORTHERN REACHES OF THE FORECAST AREA THIS EVENING AND AGAIN ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON. A COLD FRONT <http://forecast.weather.gov/glossary.php?word=FRONT> ASSOCIATED WITH THE TROUGH <http://forecast.weather.gov/glossary.php?word=TROUGH> OF LOW PRESSURE WILL REACH EXTREME NORTHWEST UTAH LATE TONIGHT...AND SINK TO CENTRAL UTAH BY SUNDAY EVENING.
LIKE YESTERDAY...MODELS INDICATE SOME INSTABILITY <http://forecast.weather.gov/glossary.php?word=INSTABILITY>...THOUGH MOISTURE <http://forecast.weather.gov/glossary.php?word=MOISTURE> AGAIN VERY LIMITED. HIGH-RESOLUTION RAPID REFRESH MODEL SIMULATED REFLECTIVITY <http://forecast.weather.gov/glossary.php?word=REFLECTIVITY> INDICATES VERY LITTLE CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY ACROSS FORECAST AREA TODAY. PREVIOUS FORECAST INDICATED BEST POTENTIAL FOR CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY WILL BE OVER NORTHERN SECTIONS OF FORECAST AREA...AND SEE NO REASON TO ADJUST.
Here is the forecasted clouds for the region by the NWS in Canada:

Click through and remember we are 6 hours behind the time listed i.e.e 03z is 9:00p.m. MDT here.
Man, what to do . . . it looks like the Pit will clear out but I like that Lakeside doesn't have any humidity. SPOC would be fun also. I'll wait to see if I get any replies.

And for those not headed for the boonies remember that SPOC will be open tonight.
If last night's turnout is any indication (20+ scopes and 200+ public) it could be a great night at SPOC.
Y'all come!

I'm up for Lakeside if that works. Clear Sky Clock is showing clouds from 9:00p.m. until around 12:00a.m. clearing by 1:00a.m.
To go to Lakeside though I would like to know that I am not going to be alone. If that's the case I'll head to the Pit. If no one responds by 5:00p.m. then I'll head to the Pit tonight and see how it goes.
I will probably go to the Pit tomorrow night though it is a work night. Clear skies and I can observe til about 1:30a.m. and be home and unloaded by 2:30 and to work by 8:05a.m. only means a nap when I get home from work on Monday at 4:30p.m. I'm actually planning on either Tuesday or Wednesday night at the Pit also in case anyone wants to join me.
