[Utah-astronomy] Sunspot Sketch

Just posted in the photo gallery a sketch I did today of the huge (!) sunspot group. With the small sunspot on the limb, are the brighter areas where the prominence plasma is returning to the surface? If not, what causes the brightning. I guess its not seen on the others because of the more direct view. No doubt H alpha picks it up everywhere. Cheers David
