Great! Me too -- but it all depends on the weather. --- On Wed, 1/19/11, Jay Eads <jayleads@gmail.com> wrote:

I used a 10 inch dob to do this each time (though I confirmed it in my friend's 16 inch as he got also got it on one of the nights. One was at a dark site in the West Desert, once was at my home in Herriman. It was around 11:00p.m. to 11:30p.m. in the evening in early Feb, and the other time was in March of 2009. Sirius was up pretty high and we used a 5mm and a 7mm Pentax XL, and I used a couple of other EP's to see if they would work. It's when I got turned on to the Pentax line. IF we get any nights of good seeing I'm going to try it in the 14" to see what I can do and this time use my own Pentax XW's.

Debbie,
I split Sirius last winter but I haven't had too many nights of good seeing to try this year. I have done it one other time and I do think it is getting easier to split as the widening increases. I have sketches of my splits and a friend who has been with me to confirm. Good luck with your effort.

Has anybody split Sirius lately? It has been widening the past few years and I'm looking forward for a clean split. I'm hoping for a good night of seeing to see if I can split it.
