I saw Idaho wasted no time putting a bounty on them once Salazar took them off the endangered list. The story I have heard is no confirmed reports in Utah, for sure no breeding pairs. Wolves get blamed for a lot, ranchers got reimbursed for "wolf" kills. Idaho reported about 1 cow kill per wolf per year.
Saw a report wolves have been blamed for cutting deer populations in half. Checked out Yellowstone's site about park wolves, they do not kill the numbers it would take to do that and they rarely take the breeding population, humans do that. Yellowstone wolves are closely monitored and the wolf packs territory pretty well known. I am very skeptical, wolves have always been scape goated. There are some reports that members of the Yellowstone pack have migrated
to northern Utah but I am pretty skeptical about them.
My family has a cattle ranch about 20 miles north of Idaho Falls. They have had problems with Wolves on the ranch a few years back, and have told me that the wolves are moving south all the time. So they could be in Northern Utah by now.
