I concur, surprised you were able to get anything, thought southern Utah got hit hard with the latest series of storms. Maybe St. George had a sucker hole centered over your house. :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chuck Hards" <chuck.hards@gmail.com> To: "Utah Astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, February 4, 2016 10:17:13 AM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] C/2013 US10 Catalina Very nice, Dave. Could you see any tail, visually? On Thu, Feb 4, 2016 at 9:22 AM, Dave Gary <davegary@me.com> wrote:
Comet C/2013 US10 Catalina as photographed from the Driveway Observatory last night. A small galaxy in the bottom right-hand corner is visible. I think it's NGC 2146. This galaxy is about 90 million light years distant (~28 million parsecs), while the comet is at a distance of 142.9 million kilometers or 7.94 light minutes. This photo was taken last night at about 22:30 from St. George.
