Very early on I attempted to have my scope converted to what was then called a Fastar. But it never did work right and to Celestron's credit they didn't charge me and let me keep the parts. The newest version of Fastar, Hyperstar, seems to have more of a following but I've not tried it myself. I think Jerry's set up is somewhat similar in that the camera is mounted where the secondary would be and positioned so that it looks straight into the primary mirror. patrick On 27 Feb 2009, at 09:16, Joe Bauman wrote:
Patrick and others with SCTs: Did you see the Astronomy Mag article about the Hyperstar? Its an attachment that goes in place of the secondary, turning the big telescope into a huge, fast wide-field instrument! Apparently we can take images as wide as we want. Take a look at it. It's really impressive. If I had the dough I'd get one today. -- Thanks, Joe
