Hi Joe, I have not heard anything about the facility being scaled back. In fact, I thought I heard about plans to expand it. Maybe someone on the list knows for sure. BTW, I went back yesterday and got some pictures with the better camera. Here's the observatory: http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/uobservatory.jpg And here is the hill that I read is what's left of a volcano that blew up several thousand years ago: http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/rock.jpg http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/rock2.jpg http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/rock3.jpg http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/rock4.jpg patrick On 14 Oct 2012, at 13:58, Joe Bauman wrote:
Interesting, Patrick. The last couple of times I went through Delta I saw maybe a dozen or two of the hospital-bed-type detectors in the headquarters yard. Are they expanding their footprint, or pulling some back, or did they just not deploy some? Thanks for the photo -- Joe

I flew down by the U's cosmic ray observatory near Delta yesterday and was surprised to see a couple of structures I don't remember seeing when I was down that way a couple of years ago.
Here's a shot of the facility: http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/uobservatory.jpg
Can anyone here comment on what the various structures are (especially the small white building towards the bottom of the image and the long, rectangular building on the right)?
Regarding EPOD, here's a hill located SE of the observatory that I plan on going back with my good camera for a sunset shot on day soon: http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/rock.jpg
Judging from all the striations I'm guessing it not only looks nice but has an interesting history. Any geologists on the list that might want to collaborate on writing the text for the submission?
Clear skies,
patrick
