This Is The Place is actually a pretty decent place for star parties. I was there as well. I think that it's possible to build up a decent crowd there for those unwilling or unable to make the drive out to SPOC. I would like to see the viewing area moved a bit farther away from the visitor center. There was enough ambient light to create reflections off the eyepiece when viewing in certain directions. There do seem to be better sites within the park.
