I think the reason Channel 4 was at This Is The Place was that the fellow who manages PR for This Is The Place Park was there that night. He was on his cell phone pretty much all night trying to get TV stations interested in covering the star party. Yes, it was breezy, and yes, it was COLD. If I'd had the Hot Chocolate concession I'd have cleaned up that night. However, the skies were very clear (for our purposes) and everyone in attendance seemed to be really enjoying themselves. Great turnout! This Is The Place is actually a pretty decent place for star parties. Stacy Palen's Black Holes lecture (including BH discoveries news that's less than a week old) had about a hundred and twenty people in attendance. Her lecture was, as usual, excellent. Thanks, everyone, for doing such a fantastic job with this year's Astronomy Day. I wonder why the media didn't bother coming out to SPOC??? That's odd.
Thanks Guy, but I'm not up for a discussion on intra-club politics and the wisdom of expanding SLAS programs. I was just out trying to enjoy the weekend and some astronomy after working on Saturday. Please start your own thread if you want to go into that topic. - Kurt _______________________________________________ Sent via CSolutions - http://www.csolutions.net _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://www.utahastronomy.com
