It's too bad that the map only refers to the sites as beacons and are not more descriptive. Apparently all the sites had beacons but only some had arrows too. patrick On 18 Sep 2013, at 10:01, Ed wrote:
Fellow arrow followers,
Regarding any concrete arrow that may have been at the airway beacon site north of Wendover:
For the life of me I cannot understand why there would be a concrete navigation arrow on top of a peak marked with a flashing red warning beacon that implies, Warning: Do not fly into this mountain. A description of that beacon and its function is in the survey information listed for that site in the GIS Arrow Project interactive map at
https://sites.google.com/site/gisarrowproject/interactive-map
This particular beacon, while on the list of beacons (but not numbered) for the SFO-SLC airway is not on the obvious flight path from Wendover airport (where the previous beacon #52 was located) and the Salduro beacon #53 which was the next beacon east of Wendover. I don't think this site was ever intended to be over flown on the SFO-SLC airway and therefore would not have had a concrete arrow installed.
