Noticed the announcement and googled the location. Erda is substantially south of SPOC by a number of miles. Yes it will be well-lit at night, but considering the distance (as the crow flies) it might not seriously impact SPOC. There is already a substantial light bump from Tooele. But yes, light pollution in the area will only continue to grow. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chuck Hards" <chuck.hards@gmail.com> To: "Utah Astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 25, 2019 12:05:13 PM Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Tooele Valley Temple It looks like the new LDS temple is going to be fairly close to SPOC. I know the church lights these up at night. Wondering if this has been on the radar of any SLAS officers? Time to think about moving the observatory. Too bad a club dark sky site was shot down every time it was every brought up, going back decades. _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Send messages to the list to Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com The Utah-Astronomy mailing list is not affiliated with any astronomy club.
