Last night was nice indeed! I went to good old Lakeside and, after bumbling around with my #(*&% focuser, finally made a little movie of Comet Garradd. It was fairly warm most of the night but toward morning I had to warm up in the car. A couple of friendly astronomers, not members of SLAS, showed up and enjoyed the evening too; I told them about Garradd and that showed up in one of their Dobs too. Handsome, healthy herd of antelope on the way in. -- Joe ________________________________ From: Canopus56 <canopus56@yahoo.com> To: Utah Astronomy List Serv <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, August 5, 2011 10:18 PM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Anything new? Northern Lights? While I have been getting kp 6 automatic emails from NOAA, most recently at 8:00pm (which indicates the storm is ongoing), looking at the NOAA POES auroral oval plot, I'm not expecting anything to happen tonight and am not going out myself - at least on the solar activity. It's a nice night to go out for general observing and to have a good time. - Kurt _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://www.slas.us/gallery2/main.php
