Those smart phone apps show nebulae in glorious color where we only see them in shades of green/grey in our telescopes. I can see the problem. Some time ago, there was a thread on this site lamenting the fact that the local astronomy clubs seemed to be aging due to lack of younger people wanting to join. Looks like we need a new astronomy TV series similar to Sagan's Cosmos, with a handsome (or cute female) professor. If it increased interest in astronomy in the UK, maybe it'd do likewise here. ________________________________ From: Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com> To: utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Monday, July 8, 2013 11:56 AM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Meade now contemplating bankruptcy instead of selloff Truly depressing. It baffles me that anyone could prefer looking at the stars via Ipad over using a telescope. It's the difference of porno vs love -- no comparison. ------------------------------ On Mon, Jul 8, 2013 11:37 AM MDT Chuck Hards wrote:

Some of what the article states doesn't square with what I see. _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy
