I love lunar observing, but why drive to SPOC to look at the Moon when I can as easily do that from an urban sky in Salt Lake?
Or is there some scheduling consideration that I am missing here?
I don't drive to SPOC or Harmons or any other _public_ star party for that matter to look at the Moon either. I go to _public_ star parties to help the public observe what they are excited by and, as I said, the public likes the Moon (and Saturn and Jupiter). DSOs excite us but it's a rare member of the public indeed that goes "WOW!" or "OOOHHH!" when seeing DSOs. Yet they do it all the time for the Moon and Saturn. Hmmm, I seem to be repeating myself. Think it best I lay low for a while and see what others have to say. And, besides, I need to finish the laundry... patrick
