Great reports, gentlemen. I was wondering if anyone would actually get to look at the sky this weekend after the recent rash of cloud cover. I have to schedule my telescope time in advance- can't grab the scope and go on a moment's notice. In the last two-and-a-half weeks I've been to SPOC 3 times and have been clouded-out all three times! The two star-parties I didn't attend had clear skies. Patrick's advice: "stop coming out here!". Makes a person wonder at times. After burning the candle at both ends on an important project at work, I came down with a bad cold on Thursday and have spent the last few days at home convalescing. No good deed goes unpunished it seems. But I'm glad someone managed to do it right. Guy, just bring the rifle with a good scope. Clip the power line leading into the house and keep the wetsuit at home. On 4/22/07, diveboss@xmission.com <diveboss@xmission.com> wrote:

I then drove to This is the Place Monument (TITPM), arriving at the tail end of the star party after 10pm. SLAS President Bob was being interviewed by Channel 4. He said there had been about 26 scopes set up earlier in the evening. The wind was quite high - 5 to 10 mph - off the mouth of Emigration Canyon, with the wind chill sending temperatures effectively into the low 30's.
Meanwhile out at SPOC, we enjoyed clear skies, meteor showers, NO May flowers, iridium flares, no wind and the parking lot was full. The only glitch, if you could call it that, was an occasional stray beam of light coming from the kitchen of the house across the pond. Note to self: Include pellet gun, rubber raft, SCUBA gear and face paint on the "things to bring" check list for SPOC Star Parties...
All in all, we had a great time. And the company wasn't too bad either! ;)
