Here's an opportunity for SLAS to be active on light pollution issues, e.g. - examining and submitting a comment to Salt Lake City on whether their new proposed street lamp replacements have sufficient shielding to reduce light pollution. http://www.slcgov.com/Transportation/StreetLighting/EESL.htm http://www.fox13now.com/news/kstu-salt-lake-city-street-lights-environmental... There is also the technological improvement of residential street lighting where adding light sensors can simply turn off the lights completely around the dates of the full Moon when the lights really are not needed for slower speed residential streets..
