I asked JD the same question. He just replied saying: "I don't think that the wind was very high. Looking at a fits header it was 2.9 m/s. 6-7 miles per hour. That isn't very high. The fast guider on Faulkes sometimes decides that it doesn't work right. Other times it works fine. Acording to Rob Ratkawski's phone call during the imaging session, the air was cold, clear, dry with no wind. What caused the stars to be "L" shaped is beyond me.
