I had to use goto on my scope to spot it this evening but once I found it with the scope (C-5) I was able to spot it, but just barely, in 10x50. That was about half an hour ago. Now that it's getting dark and I know where to look it's looking very nice in the 10x50. Can't see it with the C-5 as it's now behind a tree from the C-5's location and considering it's bolted to several tons of concrete and steel it would be tough to move. :) Still another half hour or so before it sets from here near SPOC so I'm going back out to look again as the sky gets even darker. patrick On 30 Mar 2013, at 16:07, Dion Davidson wrote:
I too went out last night to try and see the comet in the eyepiece of my 10" SCT. I have only (barely) seen it through long exposure photography up to now.
Once I found it I was amazed at how beautiful it was. The tail fans out nicely, and seemed to be concentrated at the edges, making it appear almost like a forked tongue.
