*sigh* My overly lit neighborhood in Sandy also did not make the list. <surprised look> I have ran up Little Cottonwood Canyon before and set up at the Cathrine's Pass parking lot. It gets you less atmosphere (9,500 ft), a decent 360 degree view and less sky glow. I've not ran up there in a while... me thinks me needs to head up there in the near future before the gravel road is closed for the season. Bruce Hugo PS... Not getting anywhere

Realizing that the current argument going on here is getting us no where a group of UA subscribers have agreed off list to stop posting to that particular thread. I urge all UA subscribers to do the same. Also, noting that this is not a SLAS list, I encourage anyone with constructive suggestions and/or complaints to bring them up at an official SLAS board meeting. SLAS board meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Denny's restaurant located at 250 W 500 S in SLC. The facility has ample parking and is ADA accessible. Chuck, At the other end of the eclipse path is the New Madrid fault. We could throw in the Mississippi River running backwards like in 1811 and the destruction of Memphis and St. Louis. Of course the Arch would still be standing but not much else. Deloy

Someone pull the plug in the lake?

I was flying over the Great Salt Lake last evening (Friday) a few minutes after sunset when I noticed something in/on the lake I've never seen before. Looked almost like someone had pulled the plug in the bottom of the lake and the water was swirling down. :) I wondered if some sort of giant swirl of air could have created it however the air was quite calm with just a little turbulence. My opinion is that if someday we need to use every last drop of oil, then I guess it will happen. But that time is literally hundreds of years away, based on known energy reserves. Meanwhile, it's vital that we protect some vital resources, our pristine environment, clear skies and the water we need.
