Rich, Tell your friend that this Zeta talk woman is the same one who spent huge amounts of time telling gullible people that the mothership was right behind Hale-Bopp. She is an extreme case, and has posted her garbage to Sci.astro.amateur for years. She has been refuted by some the best minds in amateur astronomy, and has a frustrating habit of taking a well thought out response and twisting little excerpts, posting them on her web page, and using it to prove that persons support for her theory. My response, by the way, is simply additional proof to her of the government's ability to hide the presence of this planet from the citizens of the country. Amateur astronomers were supposed to be the ones to find the planet and expose the government's lies. Alas, we have all been bought off. Think of this as your chance of a lifetime. If you search her co-ordinates, and find nothing, then you too, can be part of a "vast government conspiracy"! (Although I guess, as someone who firmly believes that we walked on the moon, I am already part of her ignorant masses, duped by a different "vast government conspiracy"....) Cave Mirror on Astromart...

Hi Folks, There is an 8" f/7 Cave Optical mirror being sold on Astromart right now. He had a buyer for it but I guess they changed their mind and it is now available again. The person who pulled out was going to give him $225 which I think is an awesome price for a killer Cave mirror. I own a 10" f/5 Cave and it has given me superb views over the 16 years I've had it. If it weren't so close in FL to the scope I already have I'd snatch it up in a heart beat. Regarding the auxiliary/finder scope for the Ealing, I need to point out that I'm just trying to raise the funds. Bruce Grim is in charge of the SPOC project so it is he (not me) that suggestions and comments about the scope should be directed. Cheers! Patrick

As a point of information, the American Physical Society (APS) is an international organization of physicists and associated fields such as astronomy. There are national meetings (international really) and regional meetings. There are also numerous meetings of specialty groups (condensed matter, spectroscopy, etc.). The Four Corners states have formed a regional group and the meeting rotates between the four states. This year it is being co-hosted by U of U and WSU. Thanks. John - - - - - - - - - - - - - Astronomical Society Members: The annual meeting of the four-corners section of the American Physical Society will take place October 4th and 5th at the University of Utah. All interested parties are invited to come and participate. Advanced registration (deadline Sep. 6th) is $35 for APS members, $45 for nonmembers, and free for students. The conference program will include various topics of current interest including astronomy/astrophysics and gravitation. A star party will be held at the University of Utah physics department observatory on Friday night following the conference banquet (weather permitting). Further information can be found at the conference website: http://www.physics.utah.edu/~4c2002/. If a sufficient number of abstracts are received, we can arrange a special amateur astronomy session.
