Very nice Patrick! Amazing, the kinds of images you've managed to capture in the time it takes to boil an egg... ;o) I've got a picture on my desk at work of M51 that a friend of mine (Neal Williams of Alpine) took back in '93 on hypered film in a 90-minute exposure thru a 10-inch; the image quality is still not as good as what you took in 1/30th the time. Yep that sounds like it. I just managed to miss part 2. Drat! I do seem to remember some followup news coverage that indicated it was likely the hatch blew by itself, just as Grissom had said. >As I recall this WAS a two part program. This one dated back a couple of years, but ended with some great underwater footage of the capsule. Might have been part of what you saw, Guy. There was a nice bit of background about Grissom, who's had something of an unfair rap over the years. I think it may have been "The Right Stuff" which sort of made a goat of him. But obviously NASA thought highly of him since they put him on Apollo 1. There was a program a year or so ago that covered the search and recovery of the capsule from the oceans floor. A few days ago, there was a nice 1-hour show on the Science Channel that covered the search for Gus Grissom's capsule. Great show, but incomplete. It only covered the search and discovery, but not the recovery. It felt like half of a two-parter. Did anyone else see it and do you know if there actually was a part 2 that I managed to miss? The BBC has made the last three years of Patrick Moore's monthly astronomy program _The Sky At Night_ available as internet streaming video files. The programs are served as RealPlayer streaming video. Star Death (Planetary nebulae) Oct. 2002. Astrophotography The general format is first 10 minutes is a beginner review of that month's sky.
