Hi all, I am hoping that one of the Tooele County contingent might volunteer to help us. I have ordered our new Sun Party banner and it is being printed by the Tooele Transcript printing co. to Rodger's specs. I have paid for it with my card, and I'm presuming the club will reimburse me. The banner should be finished tomorrow afternoon, according to Keith Bird of the Transcript. My problem is that we are booked up pretty solidly for Sundance movies and I don't know if I can drive out to Tooele and back before the next sun party, which is Saturday. If any of the Tooele folks are going to the sun party, it would be nice if you could volunteer to pick it up and take it to the party. Thanks, Joe

Moon-Jupiter photo op

Back in the old astrophotography days " bracketing" meant taking the same picture at different exposure times. This was using actual film and you didn't waste photo ops - you covered your bases. Jared's picture is a composite. Don Parker takes/used to take incredible pictures of Jupiter and other planets. Heard him speak and for every hour he spent with the camera, he spent about 12 hours at the computer doing what Jared did in order to get the most detailed, personally satisfying image. Makes you wonder if what you see in the photo is real - at all. I have often wondered if astrophotographers have eliminated some key detail to enhance something else .

Good afternoon all.. if anyone is interested in making a "bulk purchase"... as some distributors offer a discount if purchasing more than one... OT: Monopoly tokens

Some of you know that Monopoly is going to dump a classic token and gain a more modern one. For some time I've used my own tokens. My only rule is that they be pewter or other metal similar in color and character to the standard game pieces. C/2012 S1 tonight

Comet C/2012 S1 taken earlier this evening. This time 50 minutes between shots to show more movement. ISON

I got another couple of shots of C/2012 S1 (ISON) a few minutes ago just as clouds started to move in. Still not much to look at: http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/C_2012_S1.2013JAN19.JPG It's the TINY fuzzy dot in the exact center of each shot. Shots were taken 10 minutes apart to show a slight amount of movement. Using Chuck's cross-eye 3D method the comet appears to me to be behind the stars. Anyone else see that?
