Hello List: TC1000 1-HiPer NMC 2-Hiper ARC 10-Hiper DSP Last night our dial-in was very slow. To pinpoint the problem, I dial-in 3COM and PINGed a server. The response time was around 168MS. Then I PINGed using a LAN. The response time was <1MS. It seems that when users are dial-in (into 3COM) the response time is very high. I think there is something in 3COM causing it. Is there a CACHE built-up in 3COM TR1000? How to find out where is the problem? HELP!!! Kirti
A traceroute would be more helpful. When you say you pinged using the LAN...are you in the gateway router of the dial-in gear? Or are you just pinging using your office connection? He is pinging his 3COM RAS from the dial-up PC. A latency of 80ms to more than 120ms is something usual for dial-up PPP links. Nothing to worry in my opinion. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Todd" <berto@core.com> To: "'Discussion relating to the 3Com/US Robotics Total Controlmodemsystems.'" <usr-tc@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 06, 2006 8:02 PM Subject: RE: [USR-TC] Ping timing too high!!

Theodor: You are correct that I am Pinging from my PC on a dial-up connection. The problem is that with such a high response time, when users try to display a web site, they time-out!! 168ms is nothing serious. Two-way Satellite connnections go for more than 600ms delay and still people browse, download and chat through them :) I doubt that this is your issue. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kirti S.
