Does anyone know how to get one of these to talk to a USR Total control HUB? Here is what we get: Cisco dials in and gets IP number. We can ping the Cisco IP from all of our local workstations. We can traceroute to the IP. Log into the TC hub and try to ping the address and NOTHING?? The address and user show up in the hub doing s li co or li ip route. We can NOT ping any address from the Cisco 700, but any client behind the modem can ping any address out on the web... We are lost on this one since the standard config will dialup and work PROPERLY with another provider (do not know what type of NAS they are running) If anyone can provide a solution to this dilema, I would appreciate it. We have worked on configuring this for an entire day without any luck. Thanks in advance! Sounds like a gateway problem. Where is the Cisco getting it's IP from - TC or radius? What is the default gateway on the Cisco - IP address or Interface? ----- Original Message ----- From: <pferraro@wna-linknet.com> To: <usr-tc@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Saturday, February 01, 2003 3:23 PM Subject: [USR-TC] Cisco 700 ISDN modem/router

Wayne, It is registering the IP number it is receiving from the TC HUB as the gateway... This is most likely related to the TC hub, because using the SAME config and dialing another provider it works fine? I do not know why it is doing this... I wonder if we give it a STATIC IP if it would work? I have never encountered a problem like this with the TC hubs Was hoping it is a strange little setting on the Cisco to make it work with the Total Control hubs. Again I can trace route to it from any of my servers on my network and ping it, but if I log into the TC hub the call is on I can NOT ping the address at all. I know that this has been out and about on numerous occasions.. But I need to know where I can find the information for setting up OSPF on my hiperarcs in conjuntion with my Cisco 3640. If anyone can tell me how to configure the HiperArcs or can point me to the usr-tc archive for the answer I would truly appreciate it! Currently I have 3 total control hubs that have STATIC routes in my Cisco. Search for posts by myself, Jeff McAdams and Marshal Morgan, we have posted configurations for OSPF setups with cisco before. I'm currently running OSPF on several 5.x ARC's with Cisco 7206's (previously 3640). I'm using Radius to assign dynamic and static IP's (including subnets) to the users. In a nutshell you want to do the following: Cisco - setup ospf - set priority (designated rtr stuff) - set ospf authentication key - set networks to be announced 3COM - enable ospf - enable absr - create "send policies" for static subnets and dynamic pools - create authentication method and key - modify ethernet interface to use OSPF On 3COM you must be using 4.32.2 or later for decent OSPF support, also most OSPF configuration you can do via the GUI, but sometimes you have to use the CLI to get certain commands to work right. You will quickly notice that you have to enable and then disable OSPF globally for some setup configurations. Basically you will have to bounce back and forth between enabling and setup and disabling and then finally re-enabling the OSPF support on the ARC to configure OSPF. Check the archives, if you run into trouble email me and I'll give you some config's directly from my equipment to help. - Mike ------------------------------------------------ Rock Island Communications, Inc. Just a quick question... We have a fully populated quad hub with a HiperArc card and this afternoon it just start to go into a reboot cycle. This hub had a full load of calls (all modems in use). Once it came back up, it took calls and as soon as it got close to full it rebooted again. Could this be a problem with a power supply? The hub is running statically right now (not taking calls) and has not gone thru a reboot cycle on its own, so I am guessing it is a weak power supply. This hub has the (2) 45amp power supplies in it and is approx. 5 years old. Has anyone seen this and could it be a power supply? Thanks in advance!
