Ask telco. If you dont have working NMC you can telnet DSP cards. add modem_group slotxcon interface SLOT:X/CON:1 add network service slotxtnt server_type telnetd socket 600x data auth=off,service_type=dialout,modem_group="slotxcon" (This can be done with just one command: add network service slotx server_type telnetd socket 600x data auth=on,service_type=dialout,modem_group="SLOT:X/CON:1", but this not works on my arc). (SLOT:X/CON:1 must be present and enabled, X is slot number where DSP is installed). Then telnet your arc at port 600x. You can do trace on DSPs and check why you get busy signals. This can help configuring DSP cards. Check DSP command reference on totalservice.utstar.com. Charles Tassell wrote:
Hi Alex,
Thanks for the tip, unfortunately it doesn't seem to have worked. :( When I do a list chassis it shows the cards: HiPer>> list chasSIS Slot Owner Description Ports Type Console 1 YES 24 Channel High Density Modem 24 STATIC YES 2 YES 24 Channel High Density Modem 24 STATIC YES 3 YES --EMPTY-- 0 STATIC YES 4 YES --EMPTY-- 0 STATIC YES
and list interfaces shows the modems: slot:1/mod:1 Up Up slot:1/mod:2 Up Up slot:1/mod:3 Up Up slot:1/mod:4 Up Up slot:1/mod:5 Up Up slot:1/mod:6 Up Up slot:1/mod:7 Up Up
but when I dial the number I just get a busy signal. Any ideas?

You dont need NMC card, ARC to see DSP cards. You can statically configure ARC. It will look like this: DISABLE NMC CHASSIS_AWARENESS DISABLE NMC DSA_IDLE_REBALANCING DISABLE NMC DYNAMIC_SLOT_ASSIGNMENT set chassis slot X card_type HDM_24 if you have T1 dsp, and HDM_30 E1 dsp. set chassis slot X ports 24 if T1, and 30 if E1. set chassis slot X type STATIC set chassis slot X console yes set chassis slot X owner yes Suppose X is slot number where your DSP cards are. Thats all. Now again LIST CHASSIS and LIST INTERFACES.

Hmm, that sucks. The problem is I have a NMC 5.5.5 (hardware version 6.0) with 16 megs of dram and 8mb flash, which I want to use in my Hiper system. Unfortunately, the TCM and "list chassis" of the HiperARC won't see the 4 HiPER DSP cards (TCM sees the back cards, but not the front ones.) I figured that the reason was that the NMC wasn't running a HiPER image, so I'd just flash it. Any ideas how to tell what NMC will work with what image? I've got hm080603.dmf and hh080703.dmf, but I'm willing to go to anything that will work with the DSP's. I really don't want to spend $500 for another NMC card just to get these things going. :(

Just a wild shot in the dark, but it sounds like the file you have does not match the NMC you're trying to load it into. There are 4 or 5 different NMC's, all of which need different flavors of firmware files.

I've got the file (hh080703.dmf) but when I enter it into the nac/dmf box of TCM's Software Download menu it says I must specify a NAC file. I even tried renaming it to .nac, but that didn't work either. Can anyone help me out on this? I've heard there is a pcsdl2.exe that will do this, but I can't find it anywhere. It's a bit of an emergency, as this unit need to be upgraded so it can be put in service to replace a dying TC1000/AS5100
