Hi Alex, I got the NMC synced back to 5.4.1 and configured the DSP's/ARC's through the CLI (thank you *very* much for all your assistance in that. :) My NMC doesn't have any labels on the CPU (and the heat sync looks like it won't go back on if I try to remove it) but TCM says I have a NMC_CLK, does that give any clues as to which version of the hardware it is, and what the max flash version it can handle is? Dumb question: how do I tell which type of NMC I have? I know I have a bunch with 486 cpu's, and then the one (in the hiper system) that has no CPU label at all, just a black heatsync.

Read attached pdf. There is written about downloading DMF files to NAC cards using HyperTerminal. Check if your NMC is Hyper NMC (p5nmc) or NMC(333). hh080703.dmf is for 333 nmc, hm080603.dmf is for hypernmc.

Doh, got it restored to 5.4.1, then tried to upload a newer version of the flash via TCM (hh080703 and hm080603, although I had to rename them from .dmf to .nac to get TCM to even attempt the upload) and it wiped the card again (8.7.3 wouldn't even attempt to load.) Any ideas what image I need in order to upgrade this thing? It's hardware revision 6.0, 16 megs of DRAM, 8 meg flash, so it should be able to handle the software if I can just get it to upload. I don't think pcsdl can upload dmf's, or I'd just try that. I remember there was a hipe_upload.pl script someone wrote in UNIX, but I haven't been able to find it on the net (the author took it off of his site.)

As I know, PCSDL will help. I dont remember parameters of it (run pcsdl w/o parameters and it'll show you). Set NMC console channel speed to 57600 (dip 1,2 on as I can remember). Connect you PC to NMC (COMx to console); Run PCSDL (set to speed 57600, 8-n-1). Reboot (physically) your NMC NAC. See if anything happens in PCSDL. RN/FL on NMC will be flashing while downloading software.

I think I already know the answer to this question, but it never hurts to ask. Is it possible to fix an NMC card if the software download died after erasing the flash memory but before the new image was uploaded? I thought I remembered that you could do it with pcsdl and some dip switch settings, but I haven't been able to find anything in the manuals.
