I have a pool of 8 TC1000 chassis, using DS3 ingress to a full payload of multispan DSPs on each unit. AFIK from what the arc is reporting, software compression should be disabled for anything other than ISDN (digital) calls. Well, after seeing the thread on this list re software compression, I decided to run some tests to see if turning it on would improve things for our customers, much to my suprise I see that even though compression is set to digital only, it appears to be working for analog callers anyways. Below is version / ppp setting output from one of my TCs (they all have matching confs) as well as my test data. Speedtest.gwi.net is web accessable, and just streams a set amount of text then reports the transfer rate, nothing fancy. Is there a flaw in my testing or is something screwy going on with my TCs?
