RE: [USR-TC] Info on upgrading to v.92 pls
I got that once after cancelling a Hiper ARC SDL in progress. Only fix was to pull the NMC and then plug it back in. Even a reboot from the CLI didn't fix it. Had to be powered down. Then everything worked fine. - Joel -----Original Message----- From: Jim Johnson [mailto:jim@perigee.net] Sent: Monday, March 17, 2003 3:47 PM To: usr-tc@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [USR-TC] Info on upgrading to v.92 pls Rick, Is there anything special you need to do to load the 3.5.109 (TCS 4.5) code to a DSP running 2.1.85 (TCS 4.2)? I keep getting Failed: TFTP Access violation. Jim RickL@solunet.com wrote:
Brent,
You have to upgrade to TCS 4.5 or 4.7 to do V.92. Two things:
1) You need BOTH of your ARC's at 128 meg dram / 16 megs of flash. 2) Be aware: a) TCS4.3 or lower: TCM and HARM work, but CEM does not b) TCS4.5: TCM and CEM work, HARM does not c) TCS4.7: CEM only (CEM must be purchased
So, first replace the ARC with 64 megs of RAm and 8 meg of flash. Then plan on what management platform you intend to use. Then perform the SW upgrades (SW requirea a contract to access).
And whatever you do, don't "downgrade" DSPs once upgraded past TCS4.3. If not done properly, you will make doorstops out of the DSP's.
Lastly, do yourself a favor, and buy a dial-in number for one of your spans other than your main dial-in to the hunt. THAT is the card you should enable V.92 on. That way if a customer has problems, just dial the other V.90 number.
Good Luck.

Maybe someone on the list can help me out. I'm researching on what needs to be upgraded to be v.92. Currently I'm at TCS ver 4.2 on our TC 1000. I've spent some time on the Commworks site but was not successful. The cards that are in chassis are 14 DSP's that are at 2.1.85, 2 Hiper Arcs one is a 128M and the other is a 64M both at 5.0.9, lastly the NMC is at 7.1.8. If someone has the link or the info on what needs to be upgraded please send me an email.
Thanks,
-Brent

Folks: Beginning in March, I've seen a dramatic rise in the number of complaints among my users. The main gripe is dropped connections: sometimes after 2 minutes, sometimes after 5, but usually before 10 minutes. I have been monitoring the cards and watching connections come and go, but cannot seem to put my finger on any one piece of equipment. The nature of the problem is both random and intermittent: two of my favorite things. Has anyone else had a problem with this? We currently running: HiPerNMC: 8.2.96 HiPerARC: 5.2.9 HiPerDSP: 3.1.7 and I plan to upgrade this week to HiPerNMC: 8.6.3 HiPerARC: 5.3.110 HiPerDSP: 3.5.109 Any clues? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Michelle Mogil, mmm3@cornell.edu Information Technology Engineer Systems & Operations, CIT Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853 USA vox: 607-255-0516 fax: 607-255-8521
Any telco work in the area? Verizon started installing DSLAMs/DSL about two months ago (Jan) and I've seen a huge increase in compalints. The Agere v.92 modems seem to help (we give them out free) but in the NE I just keep telling people my bust guesses: Poor weather and Verizon work. -- Paul Farber Farber Technology farber@admin.f-tech.net Ph 570-628-5303 Fax 570-628-5545 On Tue, 18 Mar 2003, Michelle Mogil wrote:
