Joel: Thank you for your response. I have a second 3COM and as soon as I put the first one in production, I will start working on the second one as a test 3COM & might be able to resolve these issues. I may post another question on this subject at a later time. (1) I did not load factory settings. I do not not know how? I will read the manual and figure it out. If someone has a quick answer as to how to load the factory settings on a HiPer DSP, let me know!
(2) I do not know what a carrier sound is so I can not tell if my box is also answering on the first ring. I do notice that it takes appox 30 seconds for the handshake (or it may be the same as carrier sound). My impression was that the connection time, from dialing in to UID/PW verification is about 8-10 seconds and not 30 seconds.
I am learning and thank people like you to respond. I am also hoping that I get more response on this post.
Kirti The long answer delay might also be on the phone company side. I own my own class 5 switch that sits in front of my TC. One type of Answer Supervision is "10 digit/3second", another is "immediate". I doubt this is it but for clarity sakes there are different settings that can affect this. If you are using PRI then I believe this issetup in the switch type and you shouldn't even hear a ring. -- Lewis Bergman Texas Communications 4309 Maple St. Abilene, TX 79602-8044 325-691-3301 800-299-6962
