I got a customer in one of those places can only get 28.8. Has always had excellent service, just slow connect rate. She just got a new Dell, and now takes her several tries to establish connection, and once connected she loses carrier frequently. I got the puter in my shop right now, probably going to throw a different modem in it for her. -----Original Message----- From: VCI Help Desk [mailto:admin@vci.net] Sent: Wednesday, March 12, 2003 10:59 AM To: usr-tc@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [USR-TC] Dell computer Has anyone else noticed a common problem with new Dell computer with V92 capable modems? Hi Joel. I think those Dells (and others) have Connexant V.92 modems, which don't work well with our Total Control stuff. Even if it's a GVC or whatever modem they buy separate with a Connexant chipset, they don't work well. We also had a Patton RAS for testing, and the Connexant's didn't work well either (which is wierd, since Patton has Connexant chips in it). For our part, the best fix is to switch him to a Lucent/Agere chipset. :-) - Todd Chamberlain ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joel - Fox Computers" <jfox@foxcomputers.com> To: <usr-tc@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 12, 2003 11:17 AM Subject: RE: [USR-TC] Dell computer I got a customer in one of those places can only get 28.8. the good old +MS=v90 should clear that up. I have a RASH, a SLEW of people having trouble with the 4.5 code (dsp code .105?) and I am simply giving out lucent winmodems to correct the problem. This has happened a lot with dells (it CANT be my computer.. its brand new!) but +MS=v90 or a new lucent seems to fix the problem. I have v92 enabled, but nothing else in the v92 settings (PCM, MOH etc). I have yet to see a v92 conenction from TCM. My Patton kicks but with v92, but they are a small % of my dial in pool. I am in PA FWIW. -- Paul Farber Farber Technology farber@admin.f-tech.net Ph 570-628-5303 Fax 570-628-5545 On Wed, 12 Mar 2003, Joel - Fox Computers wrote:
