Does anyone know if there is a way to configure HiperARC equipment to authenticate dialup users to RADIUS, but if RADIUS timeouts it skips authentication and begins PPP? While we can manually 'Set Modem_Group all disable_authentication ppp' when RADIUS fails, we would like it to fall-through automatically if possible. Thus if RADIUS fails (times out) it allows any dialup user online without authentication. Currently if RADIUS timeouts it errors, typically resulting in an error 718 on the client. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. -- Adam Barnhill

I don't know of an option in the TC units to make them behave as you're requesting. Most people run (at least) 2 RADIUS servers so that the TC units will try the next one in line if there's a timeout. If running another RADIUS server isn't an option for you, you could probably have someone write a script that would monitor your RADIUS server and change the authentication setting in the TC if a failure is detected. Someone with experience in RADIUS and Telnet should be able to write something like that in an hour or two. - Wayne -- Wayne A.
